The vast majority of students take public transit to get to school – but the current student OMNY program traps young New Yorkers at the turnstile!

About the Campaign

Under the current program, many students are excluded from receiving a Student OMNY card because they live too close to school or receive yellow bus service – even though they still rely on transit for access for internships, extracurricular activities, and their daily lives.

Students who qualify are still limited to only four rides a day and may face difficulty with card deactivation or reliably getting a new one.

The Expand Student OMNY campaign is asking for:

  1. Universal Access

  2. Unlimited Rides

  3. Fair Communication around Deactivations

  4. A Faster, More Reliable Replacement Process
