July 13: Field Team, BQE, Motor Parkway

Our Field Team is back for the summer! Our team of ambassadors are out and about across New York City, talking about our campaigns, activism, and work in all five boroughs. Be sure to say hi if you see TA’s Field Team out this season!

They’ll be out talking to neighbors about the need to fix Canal Street, calling on DOT to give more space on the Queensboro Bridge to people, advocating for a safe Boston Road in the Bronx, demanding a better Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, urging the city to restore Staten Island’s Bank Street — and more!

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

Congestion pricing will deliver better transit. From building the Second Avenue Subway to modernizing subway signals to building new elevators to increase accessibility, congestion pricing will make getting around our region better. Time Out has a breakdown of five ways congestion pricing benefits you.

We joined Black Girls Do Bike for a women-led century. Nearly 100 people joined the women-led century ride around New York City last weekend. We were proud to support the Rockaway and Soundview rest stops. We can’t wait for next year!

In the news. Here’s what we’re reading:

  • CityLab breaks down seven projects that will reclaim space from cars in New York City.

  • We joined with Riders Alliance to demand Mayor Adams create a busway on Fordham Road in the Bronx. Read more about it in the Bronx Times.

  • Last weekend, we joined New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) and Bike New York for a resource fair for asylum seekers. See more on Fox 5

TWO THINGS TO DO

Rally to protect the McGuinness Boulevard redesign tomorrow morning. Join us at City Hall Park at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 13, and call on Mayor Adams to implement the full, community-supported McGuinness Boulevard street safety redesign. Let us know you’re coming.

Take part in BQE North and South visioning next week. Learn from community members and experts, share your ideas, and help shape the future of the BQE on Tuesday evening, July 18. RSVP and we’ll see you at the Brooklyn Heights library.

ONE THING TO DO NOW

Tell Gov. Hochul to sign the Motor Parkway bill. Completing the Motor Parkway Greenway will create safe transportation and recreation options for future generations. Sign our petition supporting the bill allowing a study to extend the trail to Long Island.

Thanks for reading!
