It’s Time to Buy a Car
When Governor Hochul “paused” congestion pricing, she doomed New Yorkers to a city overrun by car traffic — and the endless pollution, crashes, and snail-paced bus trips that all those cars cause. So, next week, with your help, we are going to give Governor Hochul exactly what she wants: more cars.
Here’s the idea: We are asking you to chip in $5 (or more) to help us deliver thousands of toy cars to Governor Hochul’s office — with the news cameras watching — along with your tweet-sized messages about what congestion pricing means to you.
We want to make clear that Governor Hochul's decision to “pause” congestion pricing means more than a defunded MTA. It means New York City will be overrun by cars — and their safety, health, and environmental impacts — forever.
Will you chip in $5 (or more) to give Governor Hochul the congestion that she is asking for? For every $5 you donate, we will deliver a toy car to the governor’s office in time for the planned start date of congestion pricing next week, along with your messages about why congestion pricing is so important to you.
Last week, we marched in the streets. Yesterday, we overwhelmed the MTA Board with testimony rejecting of Governor Hochul's "pause." Make no mistake: We are turning the tide, and we won't stop fighting until we save congestion pricing.
