2,000 Toy Cars + What to Do This Holiday Weekend to Save Congestion Pricing

Yesterday, on what was supposed to be the very first weekday of congestion pricing, we joined with Disabled in Action and Families for Safe Streets members to deliver your messages, along with thousands of toy cars, to Governor Kathy Hochul’s Midtown office — with ABC, NY1, and CBS watching. Your donations made this action a massive success.

This is our strategy: When we are not marching in the streets or keeping the phones ringing in our legislators’ offices, we are keeping Governor Hochul’s betrayal at the top of the news. And we won’t stop fighting until we save congestion pricing.

Here's what's next in the fight to save congestion pricing

Here’s what’s coming up next:

July 4th Weekend

Over BBQs and fireworks, talk to your friends and family about congestion pricing and our fight for independence from pollution and traffic violence. And rest up, because we’ve got a lot planned.

If you’re in the city and have time, you can put up some fake MTA service posters asking people to call Governor Hochul.

And no matter where you are, call Governor Hochul (518-474-8390), Speaker Heastie (518-455-3791), and Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins (518-455-2585) and leave a message telling them we need congestion pricing now.

The Week of July 8

Throughout this week, we are asking everyone to stop by their State Senator and Assemblymember’s office in person to thank them for their support of congestion pricing and ask them to stay strong in refusing any stop-gap funding for the MTA. Take a selfie with them or their staff, tag them and us, and post on social media about how it went.

Sunday, July 14

Join Families for Safe Streets for a vigil in Manhattan to remember Andy Gil, who was killed on Houston Street a year ago on this date, and every traffic crash victim killed or injured in the congestion zone. We will remember Andy and the thousands of New Yorkers killed and injured on unsafe congested streets, and protest the cancellation of congestion pricing, which could have reduced fatal crashes by as much as 27%.

RSVP FOR VIGIL

Thank you for donating, standing with us, fighting with us, and believing in a safer, more liveable New York.

P.S. Can you keep this movement going? Your donation today powers the fight to save congestion pricing — and will still be matched $1 for $1 for a limited time.
