Statement from Transportation Alternatives after Stop Super Speeders Included in Executive Budget

The Stop Super Speeders program would require speed limiters in cars that rack up a dangerous number of speeding tickets in a year.

NEW YORK — Earlier this week, Governor Kathy Hochul included Stop Super Speeders language in her proposed state budget.

Statement from Ben Furnas, Executive Director at Transportation Alternatives:
“This proposed partnership between New York State and New York City to Stop Super Speeders is a significant step toward safer streets. We applaud Governor Hochul for her leadership and her commitment to finally slowing down the worst of the worst drivers. We look forward to working with her, the state legislature, New York City, and the DMV in the weeks ahead to ensure the best possible version of this program is in the final budget and is implemented as soon as possible to save lives.”
