Eastern Queens

With monthly meetings, social bike rides and local activism, the Eastern Queens Activist Committee brings people together to change streets on the local level.

No experience is necessary to join in, just a commitment to improving public transit, bicycling and walking in the borough you love.

Come to Our Monthly Meeting

You can make real, tangible changes to how streets and sidewalks function in Eastern Queens.

The Eastern Queens Activist Committee chooses local campaigns and fights for changes on-the-ground in their neighborhoods, like bike lanes and new pedestrian plazas.

Come to the next meeting to get involved in making these campaigns a success.

Every third Monday of every month at 7 p.m.

We meet via Zoom

Please RSVP for details.

Support Our Active Campaigns

These are the campaigns the Eastern Queens Activist Committee chose for this year.

Our History

We proudly fought for protected bike lanes on Northern Boulevard, where Transportation Alternatives member Michael Schenkman was killed cycling to the Joe Michael's Mile Greenway. We collected over a thousand petition signatures and support from local businesses to push Community Board 11 to approve these safety improvements.

We have allied with Eastern Queens Greenway and are actively working with them to create a continuous protected 13 mile walking, running, biking trail starting at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and finishing in Bayside at Fort Totten Park.

Each year the TA East Queens Committee and the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce host the Tour de Flushing, a free 20-mile bike tour of Eastern Queens. Started in 2017, the Tour is our love letter to the amazing parks of Eastern Queens and food of Downtown Flushing. Our ride grows with new participants each year, and we hope you will join us with your friends to see how much potential there is in a fully connected Eastern Queens Greenway.
