TA and You:

Unstoppable Together

Transportation Alternatives never stops fighting for New Yorkers. We know that how our city is built and run is a choice. Every inch of space used for car traffic can be given back to people — for biking and walking, for play and social connection, for better public transportation that keeps everyone moving.

It’s this vision that keeps us in this fight. And it’s your support that fuels our movement.

This fight is rarely easy. It takes every tool in our toolkit to advance our shared vision of safe streets and better transportation options for all. That means continually producing fresh research, innovative policy, energetic grassroots campaigns, and powerful storytelling.

It means staying vigilant with protest and public action to protect all that TA has secured over the decades. And it means organizing in every neighborhood, in every borough, on the city level and in Albany, to advance policies that better serve New Yorkers.

Help us build New York City for the better — support our work!

Your Support Makes it Possible

This past year, TA led the fight to transform New York City’s streets. With your support, we secured lifesaving new laws and improvements that make walking safe, biking joyful, and public transit efficient.

We pushed the City to commit to daylight 1,000 intersections each year, and to add 500 new secure bike parking locations. And in response to the rise of e-bikes on our streets, we secured the city’s first extra-wide protected bike lanes and the launch of an e-micromobility charging station pilot for delivery workers. We also pushed City Hall to announce a new Department of Sustainable Delivery to hold Big Tech accountable.

In Albany, TA and Families for Safe Streets had our most effective legislative session in a decade. After years of organizing, we passed Sammy’s Law, to finally allow New York City to lower its speed limits, and secured a threefold expansion of New York City’s lifesaving red light camera safety program.

And in every borough, staff organizers and volunteer activist committees transformed streets. From new pedestrian improvements on Manhattan’s Canal Street, to new bike boulevards on Underhill and Berry Streets in Brooklyn, to $30 million in new funding for Queens Boulevard, to bike and pedestrian improvements on the Bronx’s Grand Concourse and Staten Island’s North Shore Greenway, your support made it all possible.

Help keep us in this fight — Donate today and help secure our shared vision for a better New York City!
