Since the governor’s pause, thousands of New Yorkers called the governor’s office, marched on her doorstep, and testified to the MTA Board in support of congestion pricing. 

Every week, 17 pedestrians lose limbs, organs, or suffer other life-changing serious injuries.

Throughout 2024, a New Yorker has been killed or seriously injured in a traffic crash almost every day in the congestion relief zone.

This is the third person killed in a police chase this year. Police chases have repeatedly proven to be deadly, and are banned by the NYPD.

Just a few months ago, a driver hit and killed another bike rider on the very same street. 20 cyclists have been killed so far in 2024, including three in the Bronx.

Bedford Avenue is slated to be improved in just a few weeks, but advocates have been calling for a safer Bedford Avenue for years. 

Congestion pricing should have turned on three months ago and would have already generated billions of dollars for the MTA.

In 2022, 85% of jaywalking tickets were issued to New Yorkers of color.

Traffic violence has killed 191 New Yorkers this year – the third deadliest year in the past decade.

People living near the city’s hottest bus stops are 56% more likely to be Latino, 24% more likely to be Black, and 40% more likely to be non-white than people living within a quarter-mile of the coolest bus stops.

This bike rider is the 148th person killed in 2024, four more than were killed at this point last year and 10% above the Vision Zero-era average. 42 people have been killed in Queens.

Traffic violence has now killed more than 2,500 New Yorkers since the beginning of Vision Zero.

This is the 135th fatality in New York City in 2024. This year, fatalities are 16% higher than average in the Vision Zero era.
