Families for Safe Streets is comprised of victims of traffic violence and families whose loved ones have been killed or severely injured by aggressive or reckless driving and dangerous conditions on New York City’s streets. We represent the full breadth of New York’s diversity and demand an end to traffic violence. We banded together in early 2014 to turn our grief into action and were instrumental in lowering the citywide speed limit in New York City, among other critical safety initiatives. We also provide a range of supports to others with similar experiences.
The Families For Safe Streets Peer Support Network provides crash victims and bereaved families with a connection to a peer support volunteer who has been through a similar experience. Call or email us to be connected with a member of Families for Safe Streets. We also offer a support group on the first Wednesday of every month - contact us for details.
