Each year more than 150 pedestrians and cyclists are killed by automobiles on New York City streets. Traffic deaths are a traumatic experience, all too often exacerbated by the lack of support and justice given to victims and their loved ones. Through our Traffic Justice Campaign, Transportation Alternatives is dedicated to ensuring the equal safety, respect and treatment of all street users. We are pushing for legislative, enforcement and policy changes that hold drivers accountable for the consequences of their actions. We are working to stop speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors through effective enforcement and automated enforcement cameras. And we are calling for thorough investigation and reporting on all crashes so we can make necessary improvements to prevent others. With these efforts we will bring equality and justice to cyclists, pedestrians and all people who use the streets.
