Casting Call: Bike Month NYC 2010
Start Date: Wednesday, March 10, 2010
End Date: Sunday, March 21, 2010
Client: NYC Department of Transportation and Transportation Alternatives Usage: Four ads to appear in subways, bus shelters and phone kiosks, Bike Month calendar of events, internet usage. All usage will be strictly to promote cycling in New York City only. Why: This is a campaign to raise the awareness of cycling as a means of transport for commuters by demonstrating that it is fun, safe and easier than ever. Background: Bicycle commuting is on the rise in New York City, with a 26% increase in bicycle commuting from 2008-2009 alone. But cycling still only represents a small fraction of trips taken in New York City. The New York City Department of Transportation has an ambitious goal to double bike commuting from 2007 levels by 2012 and triple it by 2017. In order to do this the DOT has added over 250 miles of new bicycle lanes and routes over the past four years, including innovative new protected on-street bike lanes, hundreds of new bike racks, and helped to pass a bill that allows tenants to request indoor access for bikes in commercial office buildings. How: We will show how it is fun, safe and easier by photographing a diverse range of people having fun on their bicycles in New York City. Safety is paramount and helmets are going to be a must as well as demonstrating good cycling behavior. Who we are looking for: People who are passionate about cycling in NYC. All ages, genders, sizes, shapes and colors. What you will need: A bicycle. A helmet. A fun disposition. A little patience on the day. Shoot dates: Saturday 20th March and Sunday 21st March. Please send ASAP:
Fees: There is no fee. We have an extremely limited budget and we are doing the most with what we have to raise as much awareness as is possible.
