Volunteer

Transportation Alternatives has over 900 active volunteers working for pedestrians, cyclists and sensible transportation. T.A. staff members rely on an army of cyclists, photographers, petitioners, attorneys, filmmakers, writers, tech-experts and concerned citizens. Come join hundreds of fellow activists and take back New York's streets and public spaces!

Email Oksana, our Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@transalt.org with the project(s) you would like to join.

    [Sunday, September 7th 2008]

There are many opportunities for you to choose from: whether you want to ride, help us set up, help out at a local park or guide cyclists through dangerous intersections we can use your help. There will be nearly 6,000 riders on the tour this year, many of whom are not familiar with riding in New York City, and we need 500 volunteers to help them out.

Street Activist Network

Be part of a special new group that T.A. is creating to put more public pressure on key officials and improve walking and bicycling! As a Street Activist, you will receive dedicated action alerts asking you to take one brief and easy action (such as sending an e-fax or email to an elected official) to win safer streets, better bike parking, car-free parks, and other important improvements to NYC's bicycling and walking environment. Get involved!

Volunteer Profiles

Every four months, T.A. picks a dedicated, hard-working volunteer to profile in our magazine. We proudly feature them on our office "Wall of Fame."
