Bronx Committee
The Bronx Committee is one of Transportation Alternative’s most successful volunteer campaigns. Founded in 1994, the Bronx Committee was involved in developing the Bronx Greenway Plan and organizing the first Safe Routes to School program in North America. Today, the Committee continues its outreach by turning out members to community board meetings, assuring that bikers and walkers have a say in land-use and street redevelopment decisions. We are working with allies developing greenways along the Harlem and Bronx Rivers, and enhancing the borough's bike lane network. We also partner with the Bronx Borough President’s office on Car-Free Grand Concourse and the Tour de Bronx, now in its 13th year. The Committee also joins T.A. for the Bronx leg of the NYC Century Bike Tour, which brings thousands of riders through Van Cortlandt Park. The Committee does not currently hold regular meetings, but organizes members through an email list. Interested in helping out? Email volunteer@transalt.org or call Wiley at 646-873-6008 to join the committee. Join the Bronx Committee email list: New meeting locations:The T.A.
