There are two ways a business can qualify to be an official Bike Friendly Business:

• If your business employs working cyclists and does business by bike, you can become a Bike Friendly Business by signing onto the Biking Rules Street Code -- a commitment to uphold safe, legal cycling behavior on NYC streets. Once you have signed onto the Street Code and become an official Biking Friendly Business, you will get a Biking Rules decal to put in your window. This conveys to your customers that you support safe cycling and sane streets and that your business is doing what it can to be green and responsible.


• A business can also qualify to be a Bike Friendly Businesses by offering discounts to customers who shop by bike, or by supporting local initiatives to bring bike lanes or bike parking to the neighborhood. By offering a symbolic discount to your customers who arrive by bike, and being a part of the grassroots movement to make streets safer for cycling, you are a business that is a leader in the citywide effort for sustainable transportation and neighborhood health. If you are this sort of business you will receive a window decal with the campaign's logo that advertises your participation in the program and identifies you as a Bike Friendly Business.
