Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Bicyclist Outside Queens Criminal CourtTransportation Alternatives Calls For Safety Improvements On Queens Boulevard
Early this morning, a bicyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Queens Boulevard, near the intersection of Hoover Street. According to City Room, the bicyclist was later pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital. "This morning's tragedy is a call to action to make Queens Boulevard safer for everyone," said Paul Steely White, Executive Director of Transportation Alternatives. "The lack of dedicated space for non-drivers ensures Queens Boulevard's reputation as the 'Boulevard of Death.' It's high time for the City to transform this deadly speedway into a safe and vital neighborhood street with design improvements and increased traffic enforcement. Queens residents deserve to be able to travel the length of Queens Boulevard safely, without fear of death or serious injury." # # # |
