Play Streets Workshop

Please join the New York City Health Department and Transportation Alternatives (T.A.) for a hands-on workshop on the Play Streets permit process. We will guide you and your community group through filling out your Play Street application. You will also meet an experienced local Play Street organizer who will share tips about how to make your Play Street a success.

You will leave the workshop with:

• A street that meets Play Street permit requirements (pending NYC Department of Transportation approval)
• A completed Expression of Interest form
• How to meet your local Community Board's street closure guidelines
• An action plan for next steps to successfully apply for and run a Play Street, including contact information for your local Community Board and NYPD Community Affairs Officer
• A hard copy of T.A.'s Play Streets Best Practices Guide

In addition to Play Streets guidance, we will also provide information about improvements you can request from the City to make your neighborhood streets safer and more welcoming for walking and biking.

RSVP to playstreets@transalt.org or 646-839-6483

If you cannot make it to the workshop, there are resources available to get you started on your Play Street. You can also contact us directly with any questions.
