Setting the New Planning Agenda: Breakfast with "Down Under" Sustainability Expert Peter Newman

On January 26th, start your day with a lively and hopeful discussion with Peter Newman, Director of the Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP), on how cities around the world are achieving lasting and resilient sustainability. As part of his US book tour, "Setting the New Planning Agenda", Newman will share key lessons from his latest publication, Resilient Cities: Responding to Peak Oil and Climate Change (Island Press 2009).

By highlighting inspiring urban initiatives around the world, Peter will share how intelligent planning and visionary leadership are helping cities meet the impending crises of peak oil and climate change. Peter will present ten strategic steps—including transportation infrastructure and building design—that can bring cities from an age of "carbon-consuming urbanism" to that of "sustainable urbanism."
