About the Ride
The Tour de Staten Island is a self-guided and leisurely tour of 18 miles of Northern and Central Staten Island.
The ride will start at the National Lighthouse Museum, head south along the eastern shore and pass Fort Wadsworth and South Beach. There will be a rest stop at Camp Pouch, where Uncle Bourbon’s will be flipping free veggie burgers on the grill, and Karl’s Klipper will provide salad. After your rest head north to the shore, pass Sag Harbor and return to the start site.
Riders are expected to follow all traffic regulations at all times. Ride Polite!
There is no day-of registration, you must pre-register.
Outside the National Lighthouse Museum, Bay Street, New York, NY 10301
Hours : 10am – 12:30pm
Finish at the Start Site. We will be there until 3pm.
*It is important to note that this is not a group ride, with no street closures and no safety cell. You will ride with whomever you arrive with, by yourself, or with whatever friends you make at check-in.
Safety Marshals will be riding the route to provide basic assistance to riders.
If you require serious medical attention at any point, the fastest way to receive attention is to call 911.
A "sweep team" of marshals will be released at 11:00am. If they pass you along the route they will point you to the closest public transportation. You will no longer officially be on the tour.
Suggested to bring:
2 full water bottles
Bike lock so you can stop and explore some of the great local food options at the finish site.
Thanks to our great Staten Island sponsors:
Bennet’s Bicycles, Uncle Bourbon’s, Everything Goes Book Café, The Bike Shop, Inc., & Karl’s Klipper
***NOTE: THERE IS ONE VERY SERIOUS PROLONGED CLIMB IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS TOUR. The grade is not horribly steep, but the hill is about a mile. There is a S.I. Rail stop (New Dorp) at the base of the hill for those who wish to stop riding at that point. On the other hand, the rest stop awaits you at the top! Refuel, rest your legs and then the rest of the ride is pretty much all downhill. You can do it!
