December 5th, 2018: Chilly And Windy

Chilly and windy again, becoming genuinely cold tonight:

Wednesday Weather

Wednesday Increasing clouds, with a high near 38. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Northeast wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday Night Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 29. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Sunrise: 7:05am

Sunset: 4:29pm

But hey, it's dry, so no big deal.

Plus, you've still got time to take a cold-weather cycling class:

In case you were wondering, sabotaging cyclists with office supplies does not rise to the level of a "hate crime:"

See, as much as it may feel like one, cycling is not in fact a religion:

Hate Crime

Therefore, on the NYPD scale, setting booby traps for cyclists remains somewhere between "minor nuisance" and "mitzvah."

In any case, the motorist behavior we encounter every day is arguably way more dangerous than thumbtacks, and it remains implicitly condoned:

And here's another truck I spotted on my ride yesterday which was spanning two crosswalks:

There should be some kind of law against using trucks this big in the city:

Oh, wait, there is.

This was in the 34th Precinct, and here's how many oversized truck tickets they've written this year to date:

Also on my ride I saw Jump bikes in the Bronx:

As well as the odd dockless Citi Bike hanging out nearby like that sparrow trying to blend in with the pigeons:

Jump and Citi

And with the year almost over Dyckman Street still has no bike lane:

The mayor said back in September that he'd address this, but I don't think Santa's going to be bringing a bike lane this year.
